A Quiet Place Part II Review
This time around, we know the trick, and it just doesn’t have the same impact.
I love movies, tech, politics, games and more. I've been writing professionally since 1985 and, thankfully, have worked with some of the best editors in the business. I'm also a proud member of the Philadelphia Film Critics Circle and the Broadcast Film Critics Association (Critics Choice Awards).
This time around, we know the trick, and it just doesn’t have the same impact.
Statham is more calm and reserved under fire than the Terminator.
Godzilla vs. Kong starts with a stomp and ends in the swamp.
Does little to help us rekindle the original film’s energy or, I fear, its success.
Breathing is something that Nolan apparently expected you to take care of on your own time
Stewart takes a truly brilliant “what if” idea and then crudely shoehorns a narrative into place.
More than anything else, The Rhythm Section is a score in search of a picture.
Loaded with rich atmosphere, several memorable shots and enough humor to keep us engaged.
This is a brilliant piece of filmmaking that’s utterly unforgettable.
Packs the screen with Hollywood heavyweights and fills each of their characters with enough charisma to rouse a coma ward.
Go back to a time when everything in life loomed so large.
It immediately reminds us of Goodfellas, and the comparison does this film no favors.
